In the previous two articles, we briefly introduced the ordinary wall-hung sleeve-type gas combi boiler and the wall-hung double-circuits gas combi boiler, and then we will introduce their advantages and disadvantages.
sleeve-type gas combi boiler:
Advantages:
1. The structure of the sleeve-type gas boiler is relatively simple, and the hot water output speed is relatively fast.
2. The gas boiler with sleeve-type heat exchanger does not have a three-way valve and a separate plate heat exchanger, so the structure and control are simple and the price is relatively cheaper compared to conventional double circuits gas boiler. As copper price continues to rise, this gap is gradually narrowing.
Disadvantages:
1. When the domestic hot water is stopped, the water in the main heat exchanger does not flow, and the heating water will continue to heat the hot water in the inner tube, which will aggravate the scaling problem.
2. It is difficult to clean after fouling
3. With the passage of time, the scale will become thicker and thicker, resulting in a decrease in heat exchange efficiency, especially in areas with hard water quality, and even lead to blockage, which will shorten the service life of the gas boiler.
double-circuits gas combi boiler:
Advantages:
1. The domestic hot water from this type of gas boiler is more comfortable.
2. The plate heat exchanger doesn’t work during heating, so the temperature of sanitary hot water is usually limited to below 60°C, so it is not easy to scale.
3. The plate heat exchanger has a simple structure and detachable components, which is conducive to maintenance.
4. It can be designed with greater powers.
Disadvantages:
1. After turning on the hot water faucet, it takes a short period of time for the plate heat exchanger to preheat the secondary plate changer, and then to change the domestic hot water, so the water output speed should be slower for a while.
2. The cost is relatively high due to extra components, like three-way valve, plate heat exchanger, etc.
