How Does a Standard Tankless Gas Water Heater(Gas Geyser) Work?

A tankless gas water heater (or gas geyser) can deliver instant hot water by heating cold water directly as it flows through its heat exchanger, eliminating the need for a storage tank compared to storage type. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown:

1. Ignition & Combustion

When a hot water tap opens,

for low water pressure start-up models, a sensor detects water flow and trigger the electronic ignition;

for normal water pressure start-up model, the unit are activated by cold water flow running thought it.

Natural gas or LPG mixes with air in the combustion chamber, where a stainless steel burner ensures stable, efficient flames.

2. Heat Exchange

Cold water passes through coiled copper pipes wrapped around the chamber. The flames heat these pipes, transferring energy to the water within seconds.

3. Temperature Adjust

Gas flow can be adjusted manually by turning the gas adjusting knobs. Water flow can be adjusted manually by turning the water adjusting knob.

By manually adjusting the gas knob and the water knob, the desired appropriate temperature hot water can be obtained.

4. Safety Shutdown

A built-in thermostat can cut off the operation if the hot water temperature is overheated to avoid scalding.

Flame sensor will halt operations if ignition fails or flameout occurs to avoid combustion explosion or gas leak.
